Baptism is your next step after accepting Christ as your Lord and Savior. It is a step that each one of us needs to take.
Why do I need baptism?
When we repent of sin putting our faith in Jesus Christ and His death on the cross for our sin, scripture teaches us that baptism is the next step in our journey. Though we are saved at the moment of belief and repentance, baptism is the act of being immersed in water and is symbolic of the work of salvation. It serves as a pubic display of faith in Jesus Christ and shows the world we are unashamed of who He is and at what He has done for us.
It is a time for believers to show they have been cleansed of sin and are now set to spend eternity with God. It also serves as an incredible symbol that declares Christ’s death and resurrection from the dead and points to the day we too will rise. Baptism and water have no saving power. Baptism is instructed by Christ as a step of obedience after salvation. (Matthew 28:18-20).
