We are committed to showing the love of Jesus to the world.

We are passionate about reaching the lost with the hope of Jesus, and we rejoice in the one. We are a dynamic, life-giving church and we exist as a vessel for the hurting, broken, and lost to meet Jesus. Overflow is not just a church, it’s a lifestyle for any and all who desire more than going through the motions. It’s a place that beckons all who want to experience the abundance found in Jesus.

John 7:38

Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.

Core Values

Jesus

Our methods will evolve but the timeless message of Jesus stays the same.

People

We catch the fish and let Jesus clean them.

Generosity

We cannot outgive God and so we give without reservation.

Generational

We honor yesterday and inspire tomorrow.

Worship

It’s not about entertainment, it’s about encounters.

Excellence

We strive to do the best with what we have in presentation and inspiration.

Passion

Passion creates energy and energy is contagious.

Honor

We honor people in their presence and their absence.

FLOW

We believe the best way to experience transformation is to get in the flow.

Follow

Weekend Services

One of the gifts God has given us is the local church. There are some things that just don’t happen apart from corporate worship. We believe Spirit-filled services can change the direction of your life.

Learn

LifeGroups

We are not meant to do life alone. Discipleship takes intentionality and we believe doing life together, beyond Sunday, is a key element to experiencing growth in our faith walk.

Overflow

Serving

Going through the motions and just getting by was never part of God’s plan. Jesus said, “I came that they may have life, and life abundantly.” There is a place where you not only survive but thrive and operate in the gifts and purpose God has placed within you.

Worship

Lifestyle

Worship is more than a song you sing with your lips, it’s the melody produced by your lifestyle. As you walk with Jesus, your experience will flow into every area of your life. This is Worship.

Beliefs

Our core beliefs are based on biblical foundational truths.

All of our teaching & ministry are rooted in and flow out of these biblical doctrines. We are real people infused with dynamic faith, committed to a common vision, joined together in the covenant love of our Creator. We used to be completely broken but are now grateful for undeserved redemption, astonished by amazing Grace, healed by forgiveness, and humbled by the divine invitation to share the Gospel of Christ. We serve because He served first. Faith without works is dead. The love of God and the Holy Spirit empowers believers to minister well to the least of these.

We are affiliated with the www.pfwb.org.

  • God exists as one entity in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each member of the Trinity serves an individually different function and purpose, yet they each possess equal power and authority. God has existed in a relationship with Himself for all eternity.

    Genesis 1:26; Isaiah 61:1; Matthew 28:19; Luke 1:35; John 5:21-23, 14:10, 16; Romans 8:9-11; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Hebrews 1:8-10; James 2:19

  • God is love. He is awesome, all-powerful, and all-knowing, with us everywhere we turn, never changing, never forsaking, holy, and perfect. God is great. He is our Father in Heaven, always watching over us with compassion.

    Numbers 23:19; Leviticus 11:44-45; Psalm 11:4-6; John 3:16; Acts 17:28

  • Jesus Christ. Completely human, yet completely God. Jesus is the only way and plan for people to be brought back into a right relationship with God. He was born of a virgin birth, lived a perfect life, and was the perfect sacrifice for our sins. He was buried, resurrected, and lives today.

  • Man was created by God, in the image of God. Man was created to have fellowship with God but became separated by God through disobedience; Sin. Man can only get back to a right relationship with God by forgiveness and salvation through Jesus Christ.

    Genesis 1:26-30, 2:7, 18-22; Isaiah 6:5; Jeremiah 17:5; Acts 17:26-31; Romans 1:19-32; 1 Corinthians 1:21-31. 15:19; Ephesians 2

  • Salvation is God’s free gift to all mankind but we must accept it. (John 1:12-13)

We can never be saved by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness through the shedding of Jesus’ blood can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. (Romans 3:24-26, 5:1, 6:23, Galatians 2:16, Ephesians 2:4-10)

When this happens, a person is forgiven of sins and set free from sin's power. (Romans 6:16-22)

  • We believe water baptism is an act of faith and obedience to the commands of Christ. Baptism declares that you are a follower of Jesus Christ. It is a public confession of your faith and commitment to Jesus Christ. It is the next step after salvation through repentance and faith and is an important foundation for the Christian life. Outward testimony to an inward work already accomplished in the heart of the believer.

    Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38-41

  • People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and hell are real places for eternal existence

    Matthew 25:31-46, John 3:16, Romans 6:23, 2 Corinthians 5:1-8, 1 John 5:11-12, Revelation 20:15

  • The Church is made up of God's children, the believers. It is a community of saved believers in Christ. It fulfills God’s commandments and teachings to spread the Gospel of Christ to the world.

    Matthew 16:18-19, 18:15-20 ; Acts 2:41-47, 14:23, 16:5, 20:28 ; 1 Corinthians 7:17, 9:13-14, 12 Ephesians1:22-23, 2:19-22 ; Colossians 1:18, 3:15 ; 1 Timothy 4:14 ; 1 Peter 5:1-4; Revelation 21:2-3

Our History

“Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Proverbs 29:18

Our church was founded on the vision of a God-sized dream. Pastor J. Ruffin Johnson prayed for years for God to prepare him and fulfill his calling into ministry. He pastored many churches before founding this church near his home site. While clearing the land he had a clear vision for a church to be built here - a place of worship for the entire community; a place where the Gospel could be proclaimed boldly and without partiality.

Over 100 years later, we are living in that vision. Generations have of believers have persevered and continued to grow and harvest the vision of our church. Pastors have gone before us and layed the foundation. Leaders have sacrificially given their time, talent and finances. They are the true pillars in which we stand and are forever grateful for their faithful efforts.

A few highlights from our church history

1922 - Pastor J. Ruffin Johnson planted his divine vision of a community place of worship. Donated the land and finances to form Johnson Memorial Church.

1948 - Over the next several decades the church continued to grow and be a voice in the community. Sunday school rooms were built and ministries began to flourish.

1963 - The congregation raised funds to redo the interior of the church. The church became known for piety and benevolence within the community, often giving to those in need and tending to the sick.

1974 - New Fellowship Hall added parallel to the church

1990 - Fire destroyed part of the Sanctuary and the Fellowship Hall. The congregation gathered in the midst of the ashes and vowed to continue God's work in this place and rebuild. The church persevered through many challenges.

1992 - A new Sanctuary was built and the old church became the Fellowship Hall.

2003 - Church paid off mortgage and loans from rebuilding. A big milestone - the church was debt-free!

2017 - Pastor Brandon Teachey answered the call to minister at our church. We've seen monumental growth and even through the challenges of the pandemic, we continued to love on people and be a beacon in the community.

2021 - New name, new vision, same God! Johnson Memorial Church officially changed our name to Overflow Church. Our methods may change, but the timeless message of Jesus stays the same.

2022 - We were able to purchase 30 acres surrounding our church from Ms. Sue Langdon, granddaughter of Pastor J. Ruffin Johnson.

2023 - 101st Anniversary! Our first ever Generosity Initiative launched and we are believing God will propel our church into the future and continue to grow and multiply! Our plan is to expand to a 1000-seat worship space, parking lot on the same side of the building (no more crossing Hwy 50!), expansive lobby & welcome center and renovation of our existing building.
